Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Budongo forest
Upon arrival at Entebbe international airport , you will be welcomed by our driver guide (company representative), who will brief you about the safari and then proceed with the journey to Budongo forest.
From Kampala to Budongo forest takes about a 5- to 6-hour drive, and on your way, you will have en route lunch and a stopover at Ziwa Rhino sanctuary for rhino tracking.
Ziwa Rhino sanctuary is one of the best destinations in Uganda that harbors the endangered white rhinos in their natural environment, as does Kidepo Valley National Park.
After tracking the rhinos, you will continue with the journey through Masindi town. Upon arrival at the park, you will continue to Budongo forest in the southern sector of the park and check into the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking and departure to Kampala
After a hearty early breakfast at the lodge , meet up with your driver guide to transfer to the park headquarters for a briefing about the rules and regulations of chimpanzee trekking.
After the briefing you will be allocated a chimpanzee family to trek with and a park guide who is well conversant with trails in the forest.
Chimpanzee Trekking in Budongo forest takes about 30 minutes to 4 hours depending on where the chimpanzees can be found because they move deep into the forest in search of food, especially during the dry season.
During your trek, you will have a chance to spot enormous bird species such as the grey longbill, African emerald cuckoo, yellow-mantled weaver, slender-billed greenbul, and chestnut-crowned eremomera.
You will also see other primates, such as blue monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, olive baboons, and black and white colobus monkeys, as well as butterflies, small mammals, different tree species, and the sweet sounds of birds, among others.
Chimpanzee in Budongo
Once the chimpanzees are located, you will be allowed to spend one hour with them in their natural habitat, which gives you an opportunity to learn more about their lifestyle and behaviors; watch them play, hunt, feed, and breastfeed; take photos; and record the moments to show people back home after the safari.
Departure to Kampala / Entebbe
After this breathtaking safari activity, you will trek back to the starting point, where you will meet up with your driver guide to start the journey back to Kampala.
On the way, you will have lunch and enjoy great views of the homesteads, beautiful scenery, and smiling people, among others.
Upon arrival in Kampala, your driver guide will drop you off at Entebbe airport or drop you off at any place of convenience or desired location.
