This 3 days flying Murchison Falls & Chimpanzee Trek Safari takes you to the largest and most visited national park in Uganda. The park harbors a number of wildlife species, including the four mammals which are buffaloes, elephants, lions and leopards.
Apart from the big four, you will also spot other animals like Uganda kobs, warthogs, giraffes, and Jackson’s hartebeest; bird species including the hornbills, kingfishers, and fish eagles, among others, during the game drive and boat cruise; and primates like chimpanzees, monkeys, and baboons during chimpanzee trekking in the southern part of the park.

Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Arrival & Fly to Murchison falls national park
Upon arrival, your driver guide will pick you up and transfer you to Entebbe international airport for your domestic flight to Pakuba airstrip.
It takes about 1 hour to get to the park. The flight offers aerial views of the vegetation, beautiful scenery among others and upon landing, your driver guide will pick you up and transfer you to the lodge for lunch and relaxation.
After lunch you will go for a game drive in the savannah plains, where you will be able to view animals like elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, Uganda kobs, warthogs among others.
After the game drive you will drive back to the lodge, have dinner and stay overnight.
Day 2: Morning game drive and boat cruise
After an early breakfast, you will meet up with your driver guide and go for another morning game drive, which starts at around 7:00am.
During the morning game drive, you will follow different tracks in the park, such as the Buligi game track, Victoria game track, and Albert game track, among others, which harbor abundant wildlife species such as bushbucks, buffaloes, elephants, giraffes, lions, leopards, and bird species like hornbills, marabou storks, black-bellied bustards, and open-billed storks, among others. After the game drive you will drive back to the lodge for lunch.
After lunch you will drive to the Paraa landing site for an incredible boat cruise activity on the River Nile. during the boat cruise to the bottom of the falls, which starts at around 2:00pm and takes about 2 hours ride will give you an opportunity to view the waterfall and cruise meters away from hippos and crocodiles in the water; view elephants, buffaloes, warthogs, and antelopes, among others, along the water banks drinking water; and view water birds such as kingfishers, Bee-eaters, Herons, cormorants, among others.
You will cruise to the bottom of the falls, where you will either cruise back to the starting point or opt for an adventurous hike to the top of the falls. Hiking to the top of the falls takes about 45 minutes and is strenuous; hence, it requires you to be physically fit.
During hiking you will enjoy water splashes, listen to roars of the water among others and once you reach the top you will find your driver guide waiting for you and then drive to the lodge for an evening of relaxation, dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Chimpanzee trekking and departure
On the last day of your safari, you will have an early breakfast, meet up with your driver guide and transfer to Budongo forest for chimpanzee trekking.
Chimpanzee trekking starts with a briefing about the rules and regulations of chimpanzee trekking at the headquarters and after the briefing you will start trekking in the forest with a park guide who will be sharing information about chimpanzees.
Chimpanzee trekking lasts from 30 minutes to 4 hours, depending on the location of the chimpanzees. During the trek, you will also be able to see other primate species, such as l’hoest monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, olive baboons, as well as various bird and tree species.
Chimpanzee in Budongo Forest Reserve
Once the chimpanzees are found, you will be allowed to spend one hour with them in their natural habitat, which gives you an opportunity to take photos, record videos, and learn more about their habits, behaviors, and lifestyles, among others.
After spending one hour with the chimpanzees, you will trek back to the park headquarters, meet up with your driver guide and transfer to the lodge for lunch.
After lunch you will check out of the lodge and your driver guide will pick you up to transfer to Pakuba airstrip for your departure flight to Entebbe international airport.
